You see the following error when browsing your application:

Server Application Unavailable

The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable. Please hit the “Refresh” button in your web browser to retry your request.

Solution

This can happen for several reasons.  An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server.  Open the Event Viewer and see the error message reported.  Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error.

If the error message reported is:

Aspnet_wp.exe could not be launched because the username and/or password supplied in the processModel section of the config file are invalid.

Then the most likely causes are:

1. Microsoft .NET Framework is no longer registered correctly.

2. The Microsoft Internet Information Server memory is corrupted.

3. The ASP.NET user no longer has access to the Microsoft .NET Framework folder, the application folder, or the Temporary Files folder.

4. You have recently applied a security patch to IIS.

5. Your system is a domain controller.

6. (Advanced) The processModel section of the Machine.config file does not specify AutoGenerate for the password.

Problem : Failed to access IIS metabase problem

Possible Cause:-
When you install IIS AFTER .NET 2.0 framework, the rights of the ASPNET user had not been set correctly.

Symptoms :-

After you install the Microsoft .NET Framework Software Development Kit (SDK), Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2002, Visual Studio .NET 2003, or Visual Studio 2005, Microsoft Internet Information Service (IIS) mappings are created to associate the new file extensions and settings for ASP.NET. If you did not have IIS installed when you ran the SDK or Visual Studio Setup, or if you uninstalled and reinstalled IIS after you ran the SDK or Visual Studio Setup, those settings will not be in place. You experience unexpected behavior when you try to view ASP.NET pages. solution
Repair (Uninstall if repair does not work for you)  .NET Framework 2.0

Simply run the following from command line to reset the IIS registry settings for aspnet user. Usually framework directory for .Net Framework 2.0 resides under C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727

   In this path, version represents the version number of the .NET Framework that you installed on your server. You must replace this placeholder with the actual version number when you type the command

LongeWala Battle 1971 :

The battle began on 5th December at 2:30 AM when Pakistan Army made the daring attempt to cross the desert heading for Longewala, 16 km from the border. As the column of 60 tanks neared the Indian line, the Indian troops without support of heavy artillery or minefield defences knocked out 2 tanks with their recoilless rifles. Though jolted, the Pakistani advance managed to surround the post two hours later trying to soften the Indians before attacking. Although massively outnumbered and surrounded, the Indians never gave up, which confused the invading troops. Dawn arrived, and the Pakistan forces had still not taken the post.

With daylight, the Indian Air Force (IAF) was able to operate effectively. Without support from the Pakistan Air Force which was busy elsewhere, the tanks and other armoured vehicles were easy targets for the IAF’s Hawker Hunters. The range of the anti-aircraft guns mounted on the tanks was limited and thus were ineffective against the Indian jets. By noon the next day, the assault had cost Pakistan dearly as more than 40 tanks and a total of 100 vehicles lay shattered on the desert. The Pakistani attack was first dented, then forced to withdraw when Indian troops launched their counter-offensive; Longewala had proved to be one of the defining moments in the war.

Kargil War :July 26, 1999 will go down in the annals of Indian history as a day when the determined Indian forces achieved a glorious victory over the retreating Pakistani army.

It was on this day that the Indian victory over Pakistan was complete. True to its character despite having to pay a heavy price for fighting a war within its territory, the Indian forces allowed the Pakistanis to return across the Line of Control (LoC). It was a gesture which depicted the great Indian tradition of forgiving even the enemy, when it pleads for it. For Pakistan, it was another lesson which it would probably not forget for a long time. It would also put Pakistan to shame, for it chose to torture and kill the Indian prisoners of War (PoWs), rather than handing them over safely as was done by India through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
